Win Night Watch T-shirts and Shot Glasses
It's the October Revolution all over again this month as the Russian horror epic Night Watch rolls into town, bringing with it legends of vampires, sorcerers, seers and shapeshifters. Destined to become either a huge cult smash or minor mainstream hit - you decide - you can read our 4.5 star review here.
To celebrate its release in UK cinemas today (October 7th), we've also got a great competition to give away three sets of Night Watch goodies, including a t-shirt and four ultra-cool stainless steel shot glasses. Enter the comp here.
Also featured on the eatmybrains site recently are our latest two Zombie Clubs (Italian Sci-Fi Night featuring the fantastic Starcrash and the not so good Reactor) and Giallo Night with Argento's Opera and Fulci's Don't Torture a Duckling.
Zomblee's published the definitive list of the Top Ten Kids in Horror and as well as the video interview with Wolf Creek's Greg McLean we also have an exclusive interview with Dylan Bank, director of the new indie film Nightmare which recently won an award at ShockerFest in the US.
And finally, a big shout out to everyone involved with, and everyone we met at FrightFest this year. We all had a blast, and if you haven't read David Hall and Soulmining's excellent report of the event yet, head on over now to the Full Index page, or visit the report for each day at Day One (George Romero's Day of the Dead), Day Two (Dead Meat, Wild Country, 2001 Maniacs), Day Three (Night Watch, Marebito) or Day Four (P, Born To Fight, Antibodies and er.. Dawn of the Dead: Contagium).
London Film Festival
Although there's not much in the way of new horror at this year's London Film Festival, there's still plenty to look out for. The festival opens on Oct 19th with The Constant Gardener and closes on 3rd Nov with George Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck with other gems to look out for including Neil Gaiman's MirrorMask, Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Chan-wook Parks' Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Visit www.lff.org.uk for more info.
DVD of the week
Not only committed to creating the best horror festivals in the UK, FrightFest have now launched their own DVD label to showcase the best in worldwide horror. Dead Meat, a great little Irish zombie film with terrific gore and hilarious characters was the first release earlier this week by the new label FrightFest Presents. With a great transfer and cool extras, you should definitely buy this 'b' zombie gem now - Amazon.co.uk or Frightfestpresents.co.uk.
Comp Winners
Congratulations to the winners of our recent Box of Blood DVD competition. We had two sets of Anchor Bay's new Vampire DVD collection (featuring Near Dark, Vampyres, Nosferatu The Vampyre, Dracula and Vampires: Out for Blood) and the winners were Jason Brawn and Paul Panama. The boxsets will be with you shortly. Stay tuned for next week when we'll be bringing you one review each day for all of the films listed above.
Ok that pretty much wraps it up for October. Time to leave to start planning this year's Halloween costume (thanks Sid Haig from Devil's Rejects for making it so much easier this year!).
Do keep checking back as we have much more coming soon, including full reviews of Anchor Bay's recent Box of Blood and Box of the Banned and our next epic 4-film Zombie Club featuring Inseminoid, Galaxy of Terror, Forbidden World and er.. Shocking Dark. Simply shocking...
