Two words - Fish Hooks! Tartan Asia Extreme have got another great little film released next week - The Isle - and to celebrate, we've got three copies to give away in our new competition.
Released on DVD on May 23rd, The Isle (Ki-duk Kim) is set in a remote fishing isle where Hee-Jin (Suh Jung), the groundskeeper, sells bait to the fishermen by day, and her body by night.
When Hyun-shik (Kim Yoo-Suk) an ex-cop who murdered his girlfriend arrives, Hee-Jin watches, fascinated by his loss of the will to live. One day he tries to commit suicide, but Hee-Jin intervenes, and she attempts to cure his physical and emotional pain through sex.
This being an Asian extreme film, however, it's not long before their physical relationship becomes obsessive, intense and all-consuming, with some particualrly gruesome scenes involving fish hooks that apparently casued several people to faint when it was shown in Korean cinemas.

4th Oct 04 With its fine blend of dark humour and shock horror, you will barely be able to avert your gaze from the screen; from the opening sequence on the desolate moors, to the thrilling finale in Piccadilly Circus.
