Maybe it's Shaun of the Dead that started the trend, but it now seems that rom com zom's (that's romantic comedies with zombies) are all the rage, as the Irish film Boy Eats Girl (starring Samantha Mumba) went into production last week.
The film - described as a 'comedy horror about a teenage date that goes disastrously wrong, bringing bloody mayhem to suburbia - will be filming exteriors in Dublin for the next two weeks before moving onto the Isle of Man.
Written by Derek Landy, the film will be directed by Stephen Bradley and has a reported budget of $5 milllion, similar to SOTD's budget. It will be produced by Element Films, with Odyssey Entertainment Ltd. handling the distribution rights, and also stars David Leon alongside The Time Machine's Mumba.
The film's official website has opened and although it's pretty basic at the moment, expect to find headshots and (hopefully) interviews and cast and crew diaries very soon.
"The Night 17-year old Nathan Maguire chooses to tell Jessica that he is in love with her is the night he dies. Fortunately, through the ancient power of Voodoo, his mother brings him back from the dead. But he's not the same. He can't feel pain. He has no pulse, and he has a strange desire to eat human flesh.
One careless bite in a fight with the school bully and the infection spreads. The town is soon being torn apart by teenage zombies and Nathan is the only one who can save his friends and Jessica before he turns against them."
