10th Sep 04
It's been announced - George Romero's Land of the Dead (now officially to be called George Romero's Land of the Dead), the fourth and final film of his Dead series - has received it's official release date.
The film will now hit cinemas in the US on October 21st 2005, which is still over a year away, but at least we can now ink that date in our diaries. Let's hope the UK release is not too long afterwards.
The film will feature Dennis Hopper and Tom Savini in a couple of the lead roles, as well as a host of cameos, including Shaun of the Dead creators, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. Filming will commence in Toronto in early November and is expected to shoot until Christmas time.
George Romero's Land of the Dead features a plot whereby the zombies having taken over the world and those left alive are confined to a walled-in city that keeps out the corpse corps.
Anarchy rules the streets, with the wealthy insulated and living in fortified skyscrapers. The story revolves around a group of scavengers who must thwart an attempt to overthrow the city while the dead evolve from brainless slow-moving creatures into more advanced creatures.
