Hideo Nakata takes over American Ring 2 remake!
2nd Apr 04
It's all change for the sequel to Gore Verbinski's smash hit.
With just weeks left before principal photography was meant to start, new director Noam Murro has jumped ship leaving the way clear for the originator of the series, Hideo Nakata, to step in and save the day.
It's a bizarre case of life imitating art, or rather 'if a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing well', or something like that.
We at Eat My Brains! are stoked at the prospect of seeing Nakata bring his trademark creepy directing style over to the West.
Here's hoping that he manages to hold the project together without succumbing too much to unwanted studio pressure...
More Information
Bizarrely, the original sequel to Ringu, the Japanese original version of Ring, was called Spiral.
It was so unpopular in it's native Japan that studio bosses quickly disowned the picture and rushed the Japanese Ring 2 into development to save the franchise.
