We're big fans of Jeff Lieberman (Squirm, Just Before Dawn and Blue Sunshine) here at eatmybrains.com, so it's great news to hear that his latest, and long-awaited, indie feature Satan's Little Helper is to finally receive a July 2005 (Region 1 DVD only) thanks to Screen Media (Universal).
Starring Katheryn Winnick, Alexander Brickel and Amanda Plummer, the film follows the fate of a naive young boy who unwittingly becomes the pawn of a serial killer: "Nine year old Douglas Whooly has decided that this Halloween he's going to dress as the title character from his favorite video game Satan's Little Helper. While trick-or-treating he happens upon a masked psychopath who tricks Dougie into being his "Little Helper", and the two begin a hellish rampage through the small community of Bell Island. Only too late does Dougie realize that this is all real and his new "master" is a killer who is now after his own family."
Bloody Disgusting have just published a favourable review on their site: "The beauty of this film is that it doesnít use any real gore. There are a few scenes that employ blood and guts, but in general, gore-to-death-ratio is quite low. Instead, Lieberman relies on laughter, suspense, and sheer terror to get a reaction out of the audience."
