In The Cave, no-one can hear you scream

21st Jan 05

In The Cave, no-one can hear you scream A new trailer for Sony Pictures and Lakeshore's The Cave has just surfaced on the Internet and can now be seen at the official The Cave website.

The film stars Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, Eddie Cibrian, Daniel Dae Kim, Rick Ravanello and Piper Perabo and takes place deep in the Romanian forest, where a team of scientists stumble upon the ruins of a 13th century Abbey built over the entrance to a giant underground cave system.

Local biologists believe the cave could be home to an undiscovered eco-system, so they hire a group of American cave-explorers to help them investigate its depths including Jack (Cole Hauser) and his brother Tyler (Eddie Cibrian).

After arriving in Romania with all the latest equipment, including a new type of scuba tank allowing a diver to remain submerged for up to 24 hours, the crack unit, which also includes Charlie (Piper Perabo) and Buchanan (Morris Chestnut), immediately begin their exploration. But what they find deep inside the caves is not just a new eco-system, but an entirely new species altogether.

Sounds (and looks) very much like Alien in a cave, but the trailer makes it look as if it could be reasonably entertaining, with some great footage of cave diving, little squiggly Deadly Spawn creatures, and glimpses of a far more vicous beast.

The Cave was directed by Bruce Hunt (who was a Second Unit director on Dark City and the Matrix trilogy) and will be released in the US on April 8th 2005. There's no official word on the UK release, but we'll let you know more news (along, hopefully, with a review) as soon as we get it.
