London's fourth annual International Festival Of Science Fiction And Fantastic Film kicks off tomorrow with an extremely interesting line-up.
Alongside the regular quirky fare and short film line-ups, there's a chance to catch The Machinist starring Christian Bale on Saturday Night, and we heartily recommend this film, seeing as it came second in out Top Ten Films of 2004 (click here for details). The screening will be followed by a Q&A with cast member John Sharian (Ivan).
There's also the world premiere of Slipstream (no, not the ok-ish 1989 Mark Hamill vehicle), which features Sean Astin and Vinnie Jones in a time-travelling criminal mastermind movie (although with those two cast members, it's difficult to tell where they got the mastermind bit from).
That not good enough for you? Well, how about Saving Star Wars, in which a middle-aged Star Wars fan “accidentally” kidnaps George Lucas while trying to hand-deliver a letter from his son, or Steamboy, the crazy new film from animé guru Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira). There will also be an anime and Matrix all-nighter, a theatrical showing of Cube Zero, the third part in the Cube trilogy, and a Shaw Brothers tribute.
