Darren Lynn Bousman announced as Director for Saw 2

Looks like they're steaming ahead with Saw 2 as it has now been officially announced that Darren Lynn Bousman has got the job of keeping the sequel in check after he co-wrote the screenplay for the film with members of the original film's main men, Leigh Whannel (writer / co-star) and James Wan (director).
Bousan is a first-time writer and director (he has worked on TV and commercials before apparently) and will start work when the Lions Gate Films and Twisted Pictures film is scheduled to start shooting in Toronto on May 5th (only a month and a half away). The release date has been set for October later this year - leaving just six months to shoot the movie, edit and score.
Sounds like too much of a rush-job to be much cop, but Leigh Whannel and James Wan have carried this kind of thing off before (see below) so you never know...
James Wan and Leigh Whannell wrote the script for Saw and submitted it to their manager. The manager then sent it to an agent in L.A. who summoned the two of them for a meeting. They were encouraged to shoot a scene from the script as a short film which they started passing around to studios.
Originally intended for a straight-to-video release, director James Wan took a gamble and took no "up front" salary for the movie and opted for a percentage instead. The film's pre-production was only five days, it was filmed in 18 days, with the film being edited at the same time as it was being shot. After positive screenings, it was given the nod to become a premier movie, and the rest ($55 million in the US alone) is history.
