Edinburgh's Dead By Dawn festival - April 21st-24th
17th Apr 05
If you live near Edinburgh, then you may know that the 2005 Dead by Dawn horror film festival will return to the Filmhouse, Edinburgh on Thursday through Sunday this coming weekend (April 21st - 24th, 2005). All weekend tickets have now sold out, but there are still individual tickets to snap up for what looks to be a wide selection of great little movies.
The exact schedule has still yet to be formalised, but films worth looking out for include Three.. Extremes (the three-story compendium from the current Asian masters Fruit Chan, Park Chan-wook and Takashi Miike), the UK Premiere of the German zombie comedy feature Night of the Living Dorks, Jeff Lieberman's Satan's Little Helper, Dead Birds, Bloodshed and The Dark Hours.
As well as a lot of short screenings, there will also be retrospective screenings of Jaws, Cronos and Frenzy and guests include Ken Foree (of Dawn of the Dead fame) and Neil Marshall who wil be around to discuss his new film The Descent (and presumaby show a small section of the film as it is currently in post-production).
8th Jun 04 The film opens with a very similar voiceover narration to the original (see Trivia) but with different footage as we tour the furnace room, all fingernail scratches and blood-clotted hair, of the Hewitt residence.
