Blue Underground release The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
14th Aug 05
In his first film as writer and director, Dario Argento single-handedly created the giallo genre with the The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (that’s L'ucello dalle Plume Crystalle for all you original-title purists out there) and and instantly emerged as the filmmaker critics hailed 'The Italian Hitchcock'.
Thankfully we can now all catch up on this now-classic, thanks to Blue Underound’s forthcoming two-disc set, announced for a Region 1 release on October 25th. In the film, a writer is stalked by a serial killer after witnessing a murder attempt on one woman's life...
Blue Underground will release the film (priced at $29.95) with a remastered 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer from the original camera negative - including recently discovered never-before-seen footage of explicit violence - along with English and Italian Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, Stereo and Mono tracks, an English DTS-ES track and subtitles.
Exclusive extras in this two-disc set include:
A commentary track with journalists Alan Jones and Kim Newman
"Out Of The Shadows" (with Co-Writer/Director Dario Argento )
"Painting With Darkness" (with Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro)
"The Music Of Murder" (with Composer Ennio Morricone)
"Eva's Talking" (with Actress Eva Renzi).
