Ooh, this has been kept pretty quiet. Following his recent film Millions, Danny Boyle has apparently already started shooting on his next project, and thanks to the press release from Fox that we found over at www.twitchfilm.net, it’s safe to say we’re just a tad excited about this science-fiction venture.
Once again working with novelist and screenwriter Alex Garland (who wrote The Beach - the book, and 28 Days Later - the film), Danny Boyle has begun principal photography in London on The Untitled Sunshine Project. Those amongst the cast include Michelle Yeoh, Cillian Murphy, Benedict Wong, Rose Byrne, Chris Evans, Cliff Curtis, Troy Garity and Hiroyuki Sanada.
The DNA Films and Fox Searchlight Pictures co-production features a world set 50 years from now, where the sun is dying and mankind is facing extinction. Humankind’s last hope belongs with a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women who set off towards the sun with a strange device to try and breath life into the dying star. But, wouldn’t you know it, as soon as the crew lose radio contact with Earth, things start to go disastrously wrong, and sure enough the crew soon find themselves fighting not only for their lives, but also their sanity.
That’s us sold. More news as we get it.
DNA Films is a joint venture with the US film distributor Fox Searchlight. The company finances and produces British films and provides access to an international distribution network.
