No more Romero zombie films then (well, not for at least two years anyway) as ‘official’ word (www.horrorchannel.com) has sneaked out that George Romero has announced that his next project following the US success of Land of the Dead (to be finally released in the UK on 23rd September).
After recently bowing out of the Masters of Horror cable series, dilly-dallying with the possibility of a follow-up zombie film and flirting with the prospect of Diamond Dead it now seems that Romero is going back to work with his old buddy, Stephen King in an adaptation of King’s novel, From a Buick 8.
The book’s plot revolves around a group of Pennsylvania State Patrol Troopers who find a vintage car, but they soon discover that the Buick automobile can open gateways to other dimensions that contain some horrific creatures.
The screenplay for From a Buick 8 will be adapted by John Schaech and Richard Chizmar, and the film is expected to go into production (through Chesapeake Films) next year.
