Remakes and horror remakes and more and more horror remakes.
Ever since the success of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead remakes, we have been bombarded with endless news of new horror films attached to the 'producer-loved' remake tag. Most recently we had Amityville Horror, House of Wax and The Fog, with countless others currently in production, including The Hills Have Eyes, The Wicker Man, Evil Dead, Black Christmas, The Eye, The Crazies, The Bad Seed and Blue Sunshine to name but a few.
Now we hear news (from Dreadcentral that Rogue Pictures (those behind Seed of Chucky) are moving ahead with a remake of Kathryn Bigelow's Near Dark. Apparently Rogue's Amy Kaufman and David Bixler are producing and have recently put out a call for writers to start submitting their pitches, although it has been reported that Rogue Pictures plan to stick somewhat close to the plot of the original.
