What with a great reception and a slew of great reviews at the recent Toronto Film Festival (it is even reported that there were several faintings at the screening!), all horror fans are eagerly awaiting Eli Roth's follow up to his well-received Cabin Fever.
Well, you don't have to wait to long now, as the US release date for Hostel has been announced as January 6th 2006 (Update - 17/11/05 - now moved to January 13th 2006).
No word yet on a UK release, but expect the film, which stars Jay Hernandez, Derek Richardson, Eythor Gudjonsson, Barbara Nedeljakova, Jana Kaderabkova to hit these shores not too long after. And cross your fingers that FrightFest can get a preview before the end of the year.
Hostel tells the story of two Americans travelling through Europe along with an Icelandic backpacker they picked up in their journeys. Opening in Amsterdam, the three take time to indulge in lots of drugs, and take time to visit the red light district.
Hungry for women and a good time, they meet a Russian backpacker who recommends a hostel in Slovakia. Taken in by the promise of stunning women who love Americans, they trek off to a small town outside of Bratislava. They find the beautiful women as promised but when one of them disappears they uncover a shocking underground of torture and sadism preying on foreigners there.
