In the wake of the recent US success of ‘based-on’true-story’ Emily Rose comes the new trailer and website for a similar-themed American period ghost story, An American Haunting.
This one seems to have a fair bit of weight to it though, with the casting of two legendary genre favourites, Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland as the mother and father of a family tormented for over three years by some very mischievous and naughty spirits.
Set for a January 1st 2006 US release, An American Haunting was written and directed by Courtney Solomon and also stars Rachel Hurd-Wood and James D’Arcy. See the trailer over at the official website.
Lots of dabs of The Exorcist, a dollop of Evil Dead in period costume, some zombies, spirits, wolves and a flipping horse cart. Looks mean’ n’moody… yeah, we like.
“In 1818, on a small farm in Tennessee, a family was changed forever. Having just settled there… they had nowhere to go! For three years it haunted them. For three years it tortured them. And then it killed one of them.
Based on true events, the only case in US history, where a spirit caused the death of a man. For 200 years it has been an unsolved mystery… Until now.
Academy Award Winner - Sissy Spacek. Golden Globe Award Winner - Donald Sutherland; An American Haunting.”
