More cast join Assault on Precinct 13 remake

 Rapper Ja Rule is the latest cast member announced for Jean-Francois Richet's upcoming remake of John Carpenter's 'Assault on Precinct 13' remake, joining Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Gabriel Byrne, Brian Dennehey, John Leguizamo and Maria Bello.
Fishburne plays a notorious mobster incarcerated at Precinct 13, a soon-to-be closed police station on New Year's Eve. Ja Rule is to play Smiley (good name), a small-time crook who lands in the precinct on the same night. Hawke plays the policeman forced to defend the precinct when a rogue gang attacks trying to free Fishburne,
Shooting on this Focus Features project begins later this month.
