Long before Shaun Of The Dead arrived to reanimate the corpse of the gross-out British horror-comedy, I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle had already set a bloody benchmark with its ultra-gory and hilariously funny tale of a bloodsucking motorcycle terrorizing the streets.
Starring Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly), Michael Elphick (Withnail & I; Boon), Anthony Daniels (Star Wars' C3PO), Daniel Peacock (Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves) and Burt Kwouk (Cato in the Pink Panther films), this much-loved splatterfest is now being released for the first time on DVD as a Special Edition boasting a host of exclusive extras.
This refreshingly effective British Horror Spoof throws caution to the wind and entrails to the floor when biker Noddy (Neil Morrissey) buys a classic Norton with a dark history. Garage bound by day, at night the satanic cycle fuels up on the blood of Hell's Angels, traffic wardens and streetwalkers. What follows provides a hilariously imaginative re-working of every scene you'd expect from any self respecting vamp flick, but on two wheels and set in Birmingham! When Noddy turns to a priest for assistance he is met first by scepticism then with steely resolve as the eccentric cleric (Daniels) tools up for an exorcism, God on his side and sacred ninja weaponry in reserve. Michael Elphick supplies sterling support as the Sweeney-esque copper with a life saving taste in snacks.
Decapitations, graphic dismemberment and a talking turd are just some of the delights awaiting hardcore horror fans in this extremely funny, special effects-laden splatterfest that is guaranteed to appeal to fans of Peter Jackson's Braindead and Bad Taste and Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead.
I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by MIA on 24th October 2005. Special Features include anamorphic widescreen presentation, audio commentary, deleted scenes, original theatrical trailer, production stills gallery and much more.
