Cast shaping up for 28 Weeks Later

 Currently in pre-production, the cast list is filling out nicely for the sequel to Danny Boyle's 'zombie' film, 28 Days Later.
Perhaps slightly unimaginatively titled 28 Weeks Later, the current confirmed cast includes Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Catherine McCormack, Imogen Poots, Idris Elba, Mackintosh Muggleton, Jeremy Renner and Harold Perrineau.
The film (funded by Fox Atomic) will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto) and is currently aiming for a US release date of May 11, 2007. Rowan Joffe wrote the script and Andrew MacDonald, Alex Garland and Danny Boyle will only take producer roles on the sequel.
Danny Boyle (in an interview with SFX magazine) said of the film - "It's got a very good idea in it. [The idea] is that ... Britain has been emptied. There's nobody there. It's completely dead. And six months later the Americans arrive to reboot it back up again."

Synopsis: "28 Weeks Later opens six months after the rage virus has annihilated the British Isles. The US Army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin.
In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited - but one of them unwittingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more."
