First look at Neil Marshall's Doomsday

10th Aug 07

First look at Neil Marshall's Doomsday Here's a nice little bonus for those people who'll be attending FrightFest over the August Bank Holiday weekend at London's Odeon West End. On the opening night (Thursday 23rd August) Neil Marshall, director of The Descent - our top film of 2005 - will be on hand to show the first trailer and exclusive footage from his forthcoming apocalyptic thriller project Doomsday and answer questions from the audience.

This late addition to the programme will take place directly after the 9:30pm screening of the Aussie crocodile movie Black Water - which is also preceded by a special 28 Weeks Later event to promote the forthcoming DVD release - making it an unmissable triple-whammy of terror!

Great Britain, 2007. A deadly plague, known as the “Reaper Virus," has broken out, killing hundreds of thousands in its wake. In desperation, the British Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again. The Government decides to send a crack team of operatives, led by Major Eden Sinclair, into the hot zone to investigate the possibility of a cure.

Doomsday's cast includes Rhona Mitra, Malcolm McDowell, Bob Hoskins, Sean Pertwee and The Descent's Nora-Jane Noone and MyAnna Buring. It's not due to open in cinemas until 2008, but for now you can enjoy a first taster of one of the poster designs (above left) and check out the film's official website which has just been launched at www.doomsdayiscoming.com.
